Field roles (Rep, Sales Manager) use 5-digit PINs — they log into the tracker. Dashboard roles (Admin, Exec, Viewer) use 6-digit PINs. SMs use one 5-digit PIN for both surfaces. The length is set automatically by the role you choose.

How this works

Users are stored in the Azure FieldUsers table. PINs are SHA-256 hashed server-side on create/reset — the hash never leaves the backend. Each rep owns one or more states, and that’s the allocation unit; their zone is derived from STATE_TO_ZONE[states[0]] for display only. User type drives the tracker’s low-stock wording (commit 3). Commission reps are data-only — we capture attached-to, state, SKU, qty and date on every drop, with no commission rate / payout logic anywhere. Deactivate is a soft-delete; inactive users can be reactivated subject to a PIN-collision check.
